UPDATE:

MALAD — The Idaho State Police report the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 are open after reporting multiple high-profile vehicles blowing over.

While the crashes are cleaned up, troopers say the winds have not stopped and asked people to use caution when driving.

ORIGINAL STORY:

MALAD — The Idaho State Police report multiple crashes in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 near Malad Summit.

Troopers issued a warning of high winds near the Malad summit earlier Monday morning. By 9:40 a.m. ISP tweeted about the first crash near milepost 28. Shortly before 10, ISP updated about the multiple crashes near the summit, blocking the interstate’s lanes.

It is not yet clear if there are any injuries in the crashes.

With the high winds, ISP warns those driving high-profile vehicles should “use extreme caution,” though the cause of these particular crashes remains under investigation.

Much of eastern Idaho remains under a high-wind warning until 4 p.m.. The National Weather Service says winds are expected to be between 35 to 45 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph can be expected most of the day. Winds will be strongest through 9 a.m.
