Red Flag Warning issued for most of eastern Idaho
Published at | Updated atPOCATELLO — The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for eastern Idaho on Tuesday.
NWS forecasters predict that until 9 p.m. Tuesday, gusty winds and low humidity create critical fire weather conditions. Under Red Flag warning conditions, wildfires are more likely to ignite and already burning wildfires have the potential to expand significantly.
Firefighters are already working to contain the Cold Creek fire south of American Falls. The fire ignited on Monday afternoon and has grown to 2,500 acres. Fire officials are not sure when the blaze will be contained that led to some temporary evacuations.

Meteorologists predict southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 25 to 35 mph. Humidity will drop as low as 13% in some areas.
During Red Flag conditions, public burning is discouraged, particularly in rural areas. It is also good to check with your local fire district or fire department since some have issued burn bans.
