Compass Academy lockout over, police continue to investigate

A lockout at Compass Academy has ended and officials have released additional information about the situation.
The incident began Monday morning when a few students received a threat from another student who was not at school, according to a letter sent from Idaho Falls District 91 to parents.
“IFPD immediately began investigating the situation and soon determined there was no credible threat. As a precaution, some IFPD officers will remain at the school throughout the day,” the letter said.
An Idaho Falls Police spokeswoman tells EastIdahoNews.com officers will continue to investigate the incident.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I wanted to share more information about the incident that happened today at Compass Academy. As you know, the safety and security of our students is always our focus, and this morning, out of an abundance of caution, Compass Academy was put on a lockout.
The order for the lockout was made in consultation with the Idaho Falls Police Department after a few students at school received a threat from another student who was not at school today. IFPD immediately began investigating the situation and soon determined there was no credible threat. As a precaution, some IFPD officers will remain at the school throughout the day.
Thank you to IFPD and our school resource officers for responding to the situation so quickly. If you have any questions about the incident, please let me know.

IDAHO FALLS — Compass Academy is on lockout Monday morning due to a police investigation.
The Idaho Falls Police Department has released few details but a spokeswoman says the school is on lockout “out of an abundance of caution as IFPD conducts an investigation.”
Lockout means nobody from outside the school can enter the building but it’s business as usual inside. Kids can move around and classes continue as normal.
During a lockdown, teachers and students cannot leave their classrooms, nobody moves around the building and lights are turned off.
This is the second law enforcement situation at an Idaho Falls School within days. A potential threat at Emerson High School following an off-campus incident led to a lockout Friday.
Parents received an alert about the situation at Compass around 9:50 a.m.
Police say more information will be released.
