A Secret Santa delivers firewood and more to an emotional couple who’s had a very rough year
Published at | Updated atThe EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local Secret Santa give $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season. Every day, from now until Christmas, we will post videos of the recipients being surprised with these life-changing gifts.
In August, Vinnie was taken to the hospital from Idahoan Foods where he has worked for 26 years as a welder/fabricator. It was determined that he had a stroke that affected his eyes and throat. His eyes were 11 units off, meaning one eye sees about 11 inches off the other one.
Every time Vinnie opens his eyes, he has double vision, vertigo and dizziness. After a month, he was sent home in a wheelchair not being able to see and not being able to eat normal food. After being home a couple weeks, he had three seizures and was in the ICU where he had heart complications.
He is slowly recovering but it has already been 2.5 months and he still has dizziness and vertigo every time he opens his eyes.
Vinnie’s wife, Cindy, is working to support the family and they could use some firewood to heat their home this winter. Some money to pay for special glasses would also be nice.
Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to pay Vinnie and Cindy a visit with some early Christmas gifts. Watch the video above to see the surprise!
