Here are the 3 candidates being considered for Madison County Sheriff

REXBURG — The Madison County Republican Central Committee has found three candidates to fill the vacancy of the county sheriff position.
Madison County Sheriff Rick Henry resigned and took a job with Brigham Young University-Idaho as the Director of Public Safety. He started earlier this week on Monday.
The committee met Thursday night in the Commissioners Room at the Madison County Courthouse to select three candidate names. They will now be submitted to the Madison County Commissioners, who will appoint an interim sheriff.

Three candidates showed up for the meeting, according to Randy Sutton, Madison County Republican Central Committee Chairman.
Sutton said the following people submitted resumes:
- Ron Ball: He currently works at the Rexburg Police Department as a lieutenant and has been with the department for over 30 years.
- Adam Ferguson: He is currently a deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and has worked in law enforcement for several years in Kent, Washington.
- Jared Willmore: He currently works at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and is a lieutenant over the jail. He has worked at the office for over 20 years.
“It took about an hour for candidates to present themselves and for our committee to ask questions. Then, our committee took about another 30 to 40 minutes in deliberation and arriving at our vote of order of preference,” Sutton told EastIdahoNews.com.
Sutton said there were 13 “voting” precinct committee leaders at the meeting.
“I will be informing the county commissioners officially next week of our order of preference of those candidates,” Sutton said.
He did not release to EastIdahoNews.com what the order of preference is.
According to Madison County Commissioner Chairman Todd Smith, the commissioners will have a special meeting on Nov. 2 where they intend to appoint one of the three candidates to the position.
This will be an interim sheriff. The appointee will serve the remainder of the elected term through 2024. The person selected would have to run for re-election in the 2024 cycle to continue beyond the original term length if they want to continue as sheriff.
