BLACKFOOT — An inmate at a Bingham County Jail was discovered dead in her cell this weekend.

Camille Elizabeth Lankford, 31, was found unresponsive at 4:15 p.m. Saturday during a routine security check. Staff immediately began to perform life-saving measures, and emergency medical personnel were contacted. EMS arrived and took over life-saving measures but were unsuccessful in reviving Lankford.

After approximately 30 minutes, the Bingham County coroner was contacted.

The cause of Lankford’s death is still under investigation.

The investigation into Lankford’s death was turned over to the Tri-County Investigators. The Power County and Bonneville County Sheriff’s Offices will conduct the primary investigation with the Tri-County Investigators. The Bingham County Joint Detective Division will also be conducting a separate investigation into the death of Lankford.

Lankford had been in custody since Thursday, Oct. 12, and was booked on two warrants. The charges were for failure to appear for driving without privileges and, failure to appear for felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.

No further information will be given out until all investigations are complete.
