Local museum announces new executive, education directors
Published at | Updated atIDAHO FALLS — The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho (TAM) announced the appointment of a new executive director and education director this week.
Alexa Stanger, who used to serve as the museum’s education director, has been appointed as executive director. She has been with the museum for almost 20 years.
“Stanger has been with TAM for nearly two decades as our Education Director and has had a large hand in making our outreach and education programs what they are today,” the museum board stated in a news release. “We are excited to see Stanger expand her skill set and take the museum to all new heights.”
Stanger’s first goal will be securing funding for and beginning construction on the museum’s new education wing. The expansion will include five classrooms, a printmaking and ceramics studio, a workshop space with a patio and an expanded children’s art room, among other spaces.
TAM also hired a new education director to fill the spot vacated by Stanger. Emily Wunderlich has been hired for that position.
“Wunderlich has an incredibly rich background in education and experience in the museum industry,” the news release stated. “Her past successes include constructing a robust docent program, as well as boosting education programs and outreach opportunities.”
Wunderlich has a master’s degree in museum studies and an undergraduate in fine art education. She has already secured two new contract educators for TAM and brings excellent ideas and enthusiasm to the position.
“We feel very privileged to have such a passionate, efficient and experienced addition to TAM,” the board said.
