The Madison County Republican Central Committee will meet next week on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Commissioners Room at the Madison County Courthouse in Rexburg. They will select three candidate names and then submit the names to the Madison County Commissioners for the purpose of filling the vacancy of the Madison County Sheriff on Nov. 1.
The Commissioners will select one of the three names to replace Henry.
This will be an interim sheriff. The appointee will serve the remainder of the elected term through 2024. The person selected would have to run for re-election in the 2024 cycle to continue beyond the original term length, if they want to continue as sheriff.
Anyone who is interested in being considered for the interim sheriff appointment needs to submit a resume by email to Randy Sutton at rds@ssscpa.net.
You can also drop off a resume in a sealed envelope to the Madison County Clerk’s Office.
Resumes must be received by 5 p.m. on Oct. 18.
To be considered, a candidate must be Republican, qualified to be sheriff and needs to attend the Oct. 19 meeting, where the candidate will be given two to five minutes to address the committee.
