IDAHO FALLS – A high school sports injury started Trevor Dimond on his path to becoming a physical therapist, and today he owns his own clinic in Idaho Falls.

Pick PT Physical Therapy opened in January at 921 South Utah Avenue next to Eagle Rock Medical Center inside Heritage Square. The clinic treats a variety of ailments, ranging from trauma and sports injuries to surgical recoveries, chronic head and back aches and improving posture. Methods of treatment include physical exercise, muscle manipulation (like a chiropractic adjustment) and dry needling, which Dimond demonstrates in the video above.

“The majority of my experience is with the back and the neck — spinal injuries, or just back pain, neck pain and headaches in general,” Dimond tells EastIdahoNews.com. “That’s probably 75% of my workload. The rest is a variety of orthopedic injuries.”

The majority of these types of injuries, Dimond says, are a result of people spending many hours a day sitting at a desk instead of moving around.

The clinic’s focus on healing and positivity is one thing that he says sets it apart from competing companies.

“When people come in, one of the things they always say is ‘You guys are a lot of fun to hang around with,'” Dimond explains. “We try to have an encouraging environment and a light mood because being in pain is hard.”

The 38-year-old sees 60-70 clients a week, and business continues to grow.

“As people start to realize I’m located here on the west side of town, they’re realizing they don’t have to go across town to get the therapy they need,” he says.

Dimond got his start as a doctor of physical therapy in Idaho Falls about 10 years ago. His business partner, Cordell Pickering — who owns a clinic at 2277 East Lincoln Road — initially approached Dimond about opening the clinic on Utah Avenue.

Physical therapy is something Dimond had always wanted to do dating back to his experience with a shoulder injury in high school. After years of experience in pediatrics and geriatrics, he felt the time was right to open his own practice.

This particular location was appealing to him for multiple reasons.

“The west side of town I felt was underserved with physical therapy,” says Dimond. “We love this spot on Utah Avenue. It’s a segue … where people pass by. It’s a beautiful building and everybody knows where the roundabout with the eagle fountain is.”

He’s hoping to hire several more clinicians in the near future so he’s prepared to take on more clients.

Pick PT Physical Therapy is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to noon. To schedule an appointment or learn more, call (208) 534-7001 or click here.
