2 incumbents, 1 newcomer win Idaho Falls District 91 school board election

IDAHO FALLS – Two incumbents and one newcomer won a seat on Idaho Falls School District 91’s school board.

Incumbent Jeremy Westwood was competing with Jordan Oseen and Patrick Jackson for Zone 3. Zone 3 includes the areas around Theresa Bunker, Edgemont, Longfellow, Linden Park and Sunnyside Elementary. Westwood secured the win with 62% of the vote (a total of 814 votes). Oseen and Jackson earned 21% (279 votes) and 16% (215 votes) of the vote respectively.

In Zone 4 — which includes the areas around Erickson, Linden Park and Hawthorne elementary schools — Shay Ricks beat out incumbent Elizabeth Cogliati by one vote. Ricks had 359 votes and Cogliati had 358 votes.

Incumbent Hillary Radcliffe will serve another term for Zone 5 which includes the neighborhoods around Hawthorne, Longfellow and Sunnyside elementary schools and Taylorview Middle School. Radcliffe was competing against Melissa LaPray and Kari Christine Vogel. Radcliffe earned 55% of the vote (829 votes). LaPray came in second with 38% of the vote (579 votes) and Vogel had 7% of the vote (107 votes).

Westwood was appointed to fill a vacancy created by Lara Hill’s resignation earlier this year. Hillary Radcliffe was appointed in 2019 four months after Deidre Warden resigned

Westwood has a background in development and construction. He has two children who graduated from Idaho Falls High School, and a daughter who currently attends. He has been very involved in the community for more than 25 years.

Radcliffe grew up in Idaho Falls, attended Longfellow Elementary School, Clair E. Gale Junior High School and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She went on to pursue higher education and later became a business owner.

Cogliati was first elected in 2019 and appeared on the ballot for a recall election in 2021.
