Rexburg woman delivers smiles to customers one cookie at a time

New cookie business delivers homemade goodies to customers’ doorsteps
REXBURG – For Brooke Rockwood, there’s nothing better than brightening someone’s day with a batch of fresh-baked cookies. That’s the idea behind her new business venture.
She and her husband, Perry, moved to Rexburg last year and launched Brookies Cookies, a business that makes homemade cookies and delivers them to the customer’s door. The menu includes six consistent flavors, as well as two additional flavors that change monthly.
One of the most popular is an oatmeal-based cookie with coconut cream frosting and toasted coconut flakes on top. Classic chocolate chip and a peanut butter cookie topped off with a drizzle are big sellers as well.
Since its launch in July 2022, the business has really taken off, Perry tells EastIdahoNews.com.
“She’s done a really good job of putting herself out there, and I think Rexburg does a really good job with wanting to help local businesses,” Perry says.
One of the things that sets Brooke’s business apart from similar companies is the personal touch she provides, Perry says.
“Brooke delivers them personally, and she’s usually on the doorstep for 10 or 15 minutes talking to the customer. That personal connection is why they keep coming back,” says Perry.
Brooke developed her love of baking as a little girl. Making oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with her mom was a frequent activity growing up, and it’s a tradition she’s continuing with her kids.
The Rockwoods used to live in Las Vegas, where Brooke worked as an elementary school teacher. She would often make cookies for school functions, and they quickly became a hit.
A job offer at Brigham Young University-Idaho brought them to Rexburg in 2022, and she felt the timing was right to launch her own cookie business.
Brooke makes the cookies out of her home, but the couple is actively looking for a place to open a permanent storefront. The north end of town in the area where the new temple is slated for construction is a place they both find appealing.

“I just think it’d be a great place to start something new with all the new building that will be going on over there,” Perry says.

Rigby Chamber kicking off Christmas season with Midnight Madness and light parade
RIGBY – The Rigby Chamber of Commerce has “visions of sugar plums,” and it wants you to come see.
That’s the theme for the city’s annual light parade and Midnight Madness event on Dec. 1. The parade kicks off at 6:30 p.m. in front of The Dollar Tree on 1st West and Main Street. Santa will make an appearance to take Christmas requests.
Following the parade, downtown merchants will have sales until midnight. Drawings and prizes will be available to shoppers.
It’s open to anyone who would like to participate.
