IDAHO FALLS — An Idaho Falls man was arrested Friday night after allegedly hitting a woman and then resisting arrest.
Idaho Falls police responded to the Jack in the Box restaurant on Woodruff Avenue at almost 12:30 a.m., Lt. Robert Lasher, PIO for the Idaho Falls Police Department, told EastIdahoNews.com. They had received a report of a possible domestic disturbance taking place in a car.
“Officers arrived on scene and located the reported vehicle in the drive-thru,” Lasher said.
The man, later identified as 51-year-old Gregory Harris, refused to get out of the vehicle. When officers tried to remove him, Harris reportedly resisted and tried to start the vehicle.
After officers tased Harris, they were able to get him out of the vehicle. However, he continued to resist.
“He continued to actively fight with officers and tried to grab an officer’s firearm,” Lasher reported.
Harris eventually was safely taken into custody. He was booked on multiple charges, Lasher said, including battery on an officer, attempting to remove a firearm from a law enforcement officer and domestic battery.
