Maryna and her two boys were forced from their home in Ukraine when Russian forces invaded their country in 2021. They had about two hours to gather whatever they could and begin the long journey to safety.
After days of walking and putting together any other possible means of transportation, they eventually made their way to Germany where they lived for a year. She had some contacts in the USA, so she applied for and received status as a refugee.
Whey they arrived, the only belongings they had fit in the suitcases that they were carrying. Maryna has been working hard to put herself in a position to move her and her boys to their own little place. She has a job and is settling into eastern Idaho.
Secret Santa heard about Maryna and her boys. He asked the East Idaho News elves to go deliver a Christmas surprise. Watch in the video player above!
