POCATELLO —- The second full day of searching for 16-year-old Jayden Jensen was unsuccessful, authorities reported Friday evening. The multi-agency collaboration will enter its third full day on Saturday morning.

The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office, Search and Rescue and Marine and Dive Teams were joined by Bonneville County’s teams, according to a Facebook post by the Sheriff’s Office.

“This added great … coverage with sonar and similar technology,” the update reads. “They also utilized a remote sonar submarine, which provided multiple possible dive targets throughout the day.”

U.S. Fish and Wildlife provided a cadaver dog that specializes in marine deployments and settings as well, officials said.

But, at the end of the day, the update was simple: “Recovery efforts were unsuccessful today.”

Thus far, efforts to find the missing teen have been focused on the area where Jayden was last seen — McTucker Ponds, located where the Snake River enters American Falls Reservoir.

“Our command post has been about a half mile in on the boat dock road for McTucker Ponds.”

Divers have been deployed from a point about four miles west of the command post. It’s a location that could only be reached by driving across difficult terrain, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Boat teams have been using two different access points to the area, according to the update. Smaller vessels have been using the McTucker boat ramp; larger vessels have been putting in at the Tilden boat ramp.

All forms of access have had their own dangers and difficulties, authorities noted.

With the diversified use of manpower and technology, authorities reportedly feel crews have thoroughly searched the McTucker Ponds area; they are ready to shift their efforts further south.

A command post will be established at the sportsman’s boat ramp. Boat operations will be conducted from there, with the help of Power County Search and Rescue.

Crews will be using sonar to search from the new command post all the way to the northern edge of the reservoir, where Jayden went into the water while duck hunting with friends.

Anyone hunting or recreating on or near the water at American Falls Reservoir is urged to use extreme caution.
