Looking for the right preschool for your child? This event might be helpful
Published atIDAHO FALLS — Parents who have preschool in their child’s future are invited to a free event this weekend that can help make life a bit easier for them.
A local mother named Anastassia Rogers created a support group for moms called “It Takes a Village in Idaho.”
It Takes a Village in Idaho will host the third annual East Idaho Preschool Fair on Saturday, Jan. 27. It will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Skyline Activity Center, 1575 North Skyline Drive. Free refreshments will be provided.
The event gives parents the opportunity to learn about the benefits of early childhood education and the many resources available in the area.
Blooming Buds Preschool, Holy Rosary Preschool, Small Beginnings, and many others will be present.
“We have 20 different preschool programs altogether in one area to try to make it as easy as possible for families to find the right preschool program for their child,” Rogers said. “There’s so much mental energy that can go into finding the right preschool for your child.”
That energy, she said, is spent trying to find out what preschools are available, looking up websites, prices, and hours.
“We are really trying to take as much of that work off of the parent’s plate as possible,” Rogers said.
Parents can “shop” for the preschool of their choice with the options provided to them all in a single location this weekend.
“Families can chat with them and ask them questions,” Rogers said. “Once that’s all done, they can schedule a tour. A lot of parents schedule a tour right then and get it on their calendar.”
She added it’s important to pick a preschool early because many get booked out ahead of time.
“A lot of parents don’t realize that most preschools — if you want to start in August — are already booked out by March,” she said. “So it’s really important to start looking now so you can get the preschool that is your top choice.”
Rogers is anticipating a fairly large crowd. Last year’s event attracted more than 200 families.
