From Ashton to Netflix: Ryan Hamilton reflects on his journey to stardom and what to expect in his upcoming Idaho Falls show

IDAHO FALLS — Ryan Hamilton feels at home when he’s in eastern Idaho.
The comedian, known for his Netflix special ‘Happy Face,’ was raised in Ashton, wrote a column for the local newspaper and worked potato harvest every fall as a teenager.
Hamilton’s life is very different now. He lives in New York City, performs stand-up comedy shows across the country and is friends with Jerry Seinfeld.
He tries to return to eastern Idaho a few times a year, where his mom and siblings still live. On Wednesday night, he was at Hero Arena inside the Mountain America Center for an Idaho Spud Kings hockey game, where he was invited to perform the ceremonial puck drop.
Hamilton will be performing in the same arena in front of thousands of people later this year on Saturday, Nov. 30. He has never performed in Idaho in this large of a facility.
