‘American Idol’ winner Iam Tongi answers 7 Questions with Emmy
Published atEvery week I’m interviewing exciting people from Idaho and around the world!
Iam Tongi won season 21 of ‘American Idol’ and is the first person from Hawaii to win the competition. Iam learned to play the ukulele in fifth grade and when he was 13, his father gave him a guitar. Iam played that same guitar in nearly all of his performances on ‘American Idol.’
Iam was recently in eastern Idaho and I was honored to sit down with him. Here’s what I asked him:
- What have you been up to since ‘American Idol’?
- What was it like winning ‘American Idol’?
- Have you moved back from Washington to Hawaii and have you seen all the love and support from people in your hometown?
- Do you have plans to release an album?
- What is your favorite thing about Hawaii?
- What do you like to do outside of music?
- Can you share a piece of advice with me?
