Three vehicle collision resulted in ‘serious crash’ on I-15; closed freeway for three hours

The following is a news release from the Idaho State Police.

BINGHAM COUNTY — A serious three vehicle-collision closed southbound I-15 for about three hours Saturday. According to Idaho State Police, the wreck occurred at 3:45 p.m. at milepost 97 in Bingham County.

A 25-year-old male from Riverside, Utah, was driving southbound on I-15 in a 2015 Ford F150 pickup truck. It struck a 2007 Nissan Sentra, occupied by a 20-year-old male driver and a 20-year-old female passenger, both from Boise, that was slowing down for backed up traffic.

The Nissan then collided with a 2003 GMC Sierra pickup driven by a 62-year-old male, with a 62-year-old female passenger, both from Pocatello. The Nissan proceeded to roll and came to rest on its roof. The Ford came to rest in the median.

The driver of the Ford and passenger of the Nissan were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the Nissan was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital.

All southbound lanes were blocked for approximately three hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved and clear the scene.

This incident is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
