Man dies after crashing into trees in northern Idaho

PRIEST LAKE — Idaho State Police is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on State Highway 57 near milepost 18.
On Sept. 18, at 10:03 p.m., the Idaho State Police and Bonner County Sheriff’s Department responded to the report of a single-vehicle crash that occurred near milepost 18 on SH 57 in Bonner County.
A 67-year-old male from Granville, Ohio driving a white 1999 GMC Yukon was traveling southbound on SH 57, drove left of center, ran off the roadway over the northbound shoulder, and crashed into a group of small trees. The driver and sole occupant of the GMC was pronounced deceased at the scene. Bonner County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death.
Traffic on SH 57 was blocked in both directions for approximately one hour for emergency responders to process the crash scene before one lane of travel was opened to allow traffic to pass.
Next of kin have been notified. This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
