IDAHO FALLS — A young man who died in a car crash Sunday night is being remembered for his kindness, love, friendship and smile.

Jade “Dawson” Grover, 17, drowned after his Chevy Malibu went into a canal at the intersection of North County Line Road and 115th East on the Jefferson/Bonneville County line. Deputies say Dawson was attempting to turn east when he failed to yield to a pickup truck pulling a boat. The truck hit the Malibu, which ended up in the canal.

Dawson’s 12-year-old brother was also in the vehicle and deputies trained in water rescue were able to extricate the kids from the car, according to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office. Both of them were rushed to Eastern Idaho Medical Center where Dawson passed away.

“Dawson, a beloved son, brother, friend and a true follower of Christ, has completed his mortal mission here on earth and was called home to his Heavenly Father to receive his angel wings,” a GoFundMe set up by a family friend says. “Dawson is full of kindness, love, friendship, and the brightest smile.”

Dawson was a junior at Thunder Ridge High School and played football last year. He also played tennis, basketball and surfed but “most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.”

“He is so full of kindness with everyone he interacts with and would regularly get up early to join his friends for early temple sessions before school,” the online fundraiser says.

Money from the GoFundMe will be used to help Dawson’s family pay for funeral expenses. As of Tuesday morning, over $15,000 had been raised.

Dawson’s 12-year-old brother was released from EIRMC Monday evening.
