IDAHO FALLS — East Idaho News is growing and we’re looking for some incredible people to join our team.
We’re looking to hire two full-time reporters in Pocatello, an administrative assistant in Idaho Falls (a newly created position!) and paid freelance writers who live anywhere in eastern Idaho.

We’ve won dozens of awards – including a national Edward R. Murrow award – and our work is often featured on other websites and television programs.
FULL-TIME POCATELLO MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST – TWO POSITIONS
We need an innovative multimedia journalist who will work with our existing reporter in the Pocatello area to help us grow. You’ll need to have strong news judgment and excellent writing, video and communication skills.
You will be based in the Pocatello/Chubbuck area – a short drive from Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Tetons, Jackson Hole, ski resorts, rivers, streams and over 10,000 acres of sand dunes.
We move fast at East Idaho News so you’ll need to be able to juggle multiple assignments while working independently from home. You’ll mainly focus on crime and court reporting but will cover other things too.
It helps if you know WordPress, Adobe Suite programs and video editing software but if you don’t, they’re easy to learn. And you’ve got to be active on social media.
Our ideal candidate will have at least two years of newsroom experience, but don’t let that hold you back if you think you have what it takes.
You’ll generally work daytime hours Monday through Friday. Occasionally you’ll be asked to cover something at night or on the weekends, but that’s rare.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
We are looking for someone who is extremely fast at solving problems, detail-oriented, proactive and genuinely happy and helpful. We need an energetic, outgoing, hard-working administrative assistant who can help us with a variety of duties including:
- Answering calls and greeting visitors
- Assisting in scheduling interviews, meetings and appointments
- Coordinating and managing advertising trade accounts
- Posting obituaries and death notices on EastIdahoNews.com
- Shipping merchandise and prizes to EastIdahoNews.com users
- Processing incoming payments and handling account receivable duties
- Maintaining accounts with third-party companies who offer services on EastIdahoNews.com
- Other tasks as assigned
Our ideal candidate will have at least two years of administrative assistance experience and basic knowledge of WordPress and QuickBooks, but don’t let that hold you back if you think you have what it takes.
This in-office full-time position is based in our Idaho Falls newsroom – a short drive from Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Tetons, Jackson Hole, ski resorts, rivers, streams and over 10,000 acres of sand dunes.
You’ll work Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and get every major holiday off. Starting salary is $18/hr. but negotiable based on experience. Excellent benefits are included.
