BLACKFOOT — An incumbent sheriff has secured another term in office.

Bingham County Sheriff Jeff Gardner secured 86 percent of the vote on Tuesday night, the majority of his county’s votes. His opponent, Vaughn Lefevre, running as an independent, received 14 percent of the vote.

EastIdahoNews.com was not able to reach either Gardner or LeFevre after the election results came out.

Gardner, the chief deputy at the time, was appointed as interim sheriff on Aug. 16, 2022, and secured the position for his first term in the 2022 county midterm election. Gardner has now secured another four-year term as sheriff.

In total, Gardner received 14,474 votes, while LeFevre received 2,431 votes.
