‘Holy Buckets!’ Woman returns home and has unforgettable reaction opening gift from a Secret Santa
Published at | Updated atA local Secret Santa is giving $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season and the East Idaho News elves are helping out.
Every day, from now until the end of the year, we’ll be posting a Secret Santa surprise, and today, we are in Challis to surprise a woman named Brenda.
When she was 13 years old, she was in a tragic car crash. The vehicle she was riding in crashed into a river and her leg was severed just above the knee.
Brenda was in the hospital for 27 days and had numerous surgeries. She recovered and moved through life with a prosthetic leg. She graduated high school and went on to college but several years of strenuous work on concrete floors has taken a toll on her body.
She has had multiple surgeries, including a total knee replacement and several back surgeries. In 2002, she went through a Vocational Rehabilitation program and she started an internship with the Bureau of Land Management. She has worked a desk job with the BLM for the past 22 years.
Over the past five years, Brenda’s health has continued to decline. She has had six back surgeries in 5 years and she has been diagnosed with diabetes and stage 4 kidney disease. Due to issues with her kidney disease, she has ended up on life support two separate times.
Brenda still manages to get up every day, go to work and take care of herself even though she is in a wheelchair more of the time. Her old home is not wheelchair accessible and needs some repairs.
Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to visit Challis and surprise Brenda. Check out the video in the player above!
