Idaho Coffee Company creates signature latte to benefit local foster kids
Published at | Updated atPOCATELLO – Idaho Coffee Company (ICC) has created a signature latte called “Home Sweet Home,” with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the 6th Annual Foster Care Christmas Fundraiser. The funds raised from the latte will benefit youth served by The Village, a foster care closet in Blackfoot.
Deidra Terrell, owner of ICC, has participated in the fundraiser since its start by donating time and money, shopping and wrapping gifts. However, she took it one step further this year with the “Home Sweet Home” latte.
“Home Sweet Home” is a cozy shortbread cookie and caramel latte served iced, blended or as a steamer.
“It’s delicious,” said Terrell. “If it weren’t for fundraisers like this, some foster kids wouldn’t get even one gift for Christmas.”
The signature latte is available through Nov. 23 at both ICC locations: 2806 South 5th and 322 East Chubbuck Road in the Pocatello/Chubbuck area.
Local Southeast Idahome & Co. Properties realtors Brandon and Jess DesFosses started the Annual Foster Care Christmas Fundraiser in 2019 to support children in foster care during the holiday season. After seeing firsthand the limited resources provided for holiday gifts when they fostered their own daughter, the couple was inspired to help so that no foster child goes without on Christmas.
All proceeds from the fundraiser go toward purchasing Christmas gifts for Idaho foster children. Approximately 3,000 youth are in and out of foster care statewide annually, according to the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare.
“Jess and Brandon gained a piece of their heart through a local Idaho adoption a few years ago. It was then that the realization of how little these kids have really sunk in,” said Terrell.
“We have grown each year thanks to the overwhelming support from local businesses and community members. This year, we are thrilled to announce that we will be able to sponsor at least 37 kids, making their holiday season a little brighter,” added Jess DesFosses.
According to Jess, this year’s success has been made possible by generous contributions from local businesses, including the Building Contractors Association of Southeast Idaho, The Popcorn Shop, Brekka Hartman Photography, Fresh Prep Pocatello, Golden Permanent Jewelry, Idaho Coffee Company, Lettie Boutique, Belnap Orthodontics, Blush Beauty Spa, Lachere’s Fab 5, Kallista Laser & Aesthetics, Museum of Clean, Double B Beef and Barrie’s Ski & Sports.
Additionally, Jess praised the community for supporting the “Gathering of the Ghouls” Halloween Brunch Fundraiser at The Hive in October, bringing together sponsors and attendees to raise money for the fundraiser in a fun and festive way.
“We are so grateful for our wonderful community stepping up to make sure these kids feel special and cared for on Christmas day,” said Jess.
