Idaho Falls Fire responds to fifth wheel fire

IDAHO FALLS — The Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to a fire involving a fifth wheel in Iona Thursday morning.
Around 9:57 a.m., the Idaho Falls Bonneville County Communications Center received a 911 call about an RV fire on the corner of Denning Avenue and Oleson Street in Iona. The caller reported the fifth wheel was about four feet from a fence and about 20 feet from another travel trailer.
Idaho Falls Fire responded immediately and the call was upgraded to a structure fire. When firefighters arrived they discovered the fifth wheel parked near a home was on fire. The flames were quickly extinguished and firefighters remained on scene to ensure the fire was completely out.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
IFFD responded with four engines, two ambulances and a battalion chief.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time and is under investigation by the IFFD Fire Prevention and Investigation Division. The fifth wheel is a total loss with an estimated value of $10,000.
