IDAHO FALLS – After seven months of work, Chy Jorgensen and Nicky Peterson are thrilled to see the completion of their new clothing, boutique and sporting goods shop in Idaho Falls.

North 40 Adventures opened last Friday in an old loading dock at 575 South Utah Avenue across from Walmart. The store will have a ribbon-cutting with the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce on Friday at 4 p.m. Food trucks will be on-site Saturday for its official grand opening from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and there will be lots of in-store discounts.

Even without fanfare, Jorgensen tells EastIdahoNews.com customer turnout has been really great.

“When I turned on the sign, people started coming in. People on this side of town are especially excited because (there aren’t a lot of options for this type of business) over here,” Jorgensen says.

North 40 Adventures offers a variety of clothing for men and women, along with athletic apparel and health supplements from Bucked Up, home decor and boutique items, electric bikes and other outdoor recreational equipment.

Its name comes from the name of their family’s ranch. There, Jorgensen and Peterson, who are sisters, grew up doing outdoor activities together with their brother, J.D. Lundblade, who is also a partner in the business.

They launched the business online in March after selling similar items on a daily deal website for about 10 years.

The building had been vacant for years and was an eyesore when they bought it, Peterson says. Its rustic warehouse vibe fits the theme of their brand, and many of its features are still intact.

The building once had multiple garage doors, which have since been used to make tables to display inventory. They’re pleased with how the renovations turned out.

“The floor (which has oil and other stains) is original and that’s kind of fun,” says Jorgensen.

“We tried to keep as much of the character and history of the building as we could,” Peterson adds.

Twice a year, the duo host a drawing for a destination vacation. The next one is happening in January for a 4-night stay at Desert Color Resort in St. George, Utah. The winner will get $5,000 in travel money and can choose from several excursions, including a tour of Zion National Park, a helicopter tour, hot air balloon tour, a golf day, spa day or Mad Moose UTV Adventure.

Every in-store purchase is an entry into the drawing.

The pair are glad to be open for business and they invite the community to stop by for their grand opening.

North 40 Adventures is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday.
