Links Indoor Golf opens flagship location in Rexburg
REXBURG – Avid golfers in eastern Idaho may find it difficult to practice their golf swings during the winter months. But a new business in Rexburg hopes to change that.
Links Indoor Golf opened Oct. 12 at 153 North 2nd East Unit A in the same building as Heber Hatchets Axe Throwing. The golfing business also opened a Pocatello store the same day at 415 Yellowstone Avenue.
The Rexburg location offers five screens with a golf simulator for patrons. There are also two other screens for non-golfers who want to play other games, whether it’s basketball, soccer or target shooting. See what it’s like in the video above.
Customers can pay to play for an hour or sign up for a membership and have 24/7 access.
Marketing Manager Garrison Kruse tells EastIdahoNews.com customers who have visited the store have had a great time.
“We set them up nicely with drinks. It’s pretty user-friendly,” Kruse says. “We’re getting a lot more people walking in, which we’re proud of.”
A grand opening celebration is in the works. The business is using the occasion to partner with the Rigby High School golf team to help them raise funds for new equipment.
Links Indoor Golf is a franchise with locations throughout northern Utah. The Rexburg and Pocatello stores are the first Idaho locations.
Kruse says it was the city’s large population of college students that prompted the owners to make Rexburg its flagship location.
“There’s a lot of golf courses around here with a big golf community … so we wanted to offer them a place where they could be comfortable and practice their swing (year-round),” Kruse says.
The municipal courses in the area will soon be available on the simulators as well.
TVs and other amenities will be added in the coming weeks. Rexburg manager Dylan Goodwin says they want it to be just like a country club.
“We want the feel of … this is the place to be. It’s not just a college, low-key hangout. This is the top notch, best entertainment we have in Rexburg,” Goodwin says.
While the Rexburg business is still focused on getting established, Kruse says the longterm plan is to continue to expand. He and Goodwin are hoping to eventually open an Idaho Falls location.
“We’re really passionate about creating that strong brand name and having that feel when you walk in here,” says Kruse. “The vibe of what Links stands for is what people are interested in.”
Links Indoor Golf is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday in Rexburg and Pocatello. A backdoor code provides 24-hour access to exclusive members.
