A local Secret Santa is giving $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season and the East Idaho News elves are helping out.

Every day, from now until the end of the year, we’ll be posting a Secret Santa surprise and today we’re visiting a lady named Debi in Pocatello.

Her family is well-known and loved in the neighborhood. Debi is very caring and has an amazing attitude about life.

Her husband, Alan, had a massive heart attack two years ago and faces daily chronic pain from several health issues. Debi has turned her backyard into a productive vegetable garden in attempts to economize and she has an extensive food canning operation inside the house.

They are facing hardships economically and physically but are so very positive and loving to everyone in the neighborhood.

During the pandemic, Debi placed small notes on the stoops of the houses in the neighborhood as a gesture of love and kindness. She encouraged everyone to text and check up on each other during the pandemic.

The Clarks have an enormous spruce in their yard that needs removal. Debi has said that she looks up at this tree every day and is very worried about it falling down and hurting someone – especially because they live so close to an elementary school.

Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves if we could pay Debi a visit with an early Christmas gift. Check out the surprise in the video player above!
