IDAHO FALLS — Skyline High School’s Zyan Crockett has been named the MaxPrep Idaho High School Football Player of the Year.

The junior was a multi-use offensive weapon for the Grizz this season, scoring touchdowns as a runner, receiver, returner and passer. According to MaxPreps, Crockett totaled 939 yards and 10 touchdowns on 52 receptions, 737 yards and 13 touchdowns on 107 carries, and added a pair of kick return scores while completing two of three pass attempts for 103 yards and one touchdown.

And he was at his best in the 5A State Football Championship game, which Hillcrest won, 31-8, making numerous diving catches and explosive plays while accounting for all of Skyline’s points.

Crockett put the finishing touches on his junior season posting 182 yards of total offense — 151 on nine catches and 31 on eight carries. He also scored Skyline’s only touchdown of the game, and converted the two-point conversion following the score.

In fact, Crockett reached the endzone in each of Skyline’s four playoff games.

Crockett and two-way star Taylor Taylor will lead a returning group of Grizz looking to regain its perch atop the state’s 5A Division next season.
