Wanted man escapes after evading arrest near Tautphaus Park
Published at | Updated atIDAHO FALLS — A wanted man escaped from law enforcement and is on the run after evading arrest at a residence on Friday evening near Tautphaus Park.
Bonneville County Sheriff deputies stopped to search for an individual with a warrant out for his arrest at a home on Fieldstream Lane, near Hartert Drive, just before 6:30 p.m.
“As they approached, that person took off on foot,” Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Bryan Lovell said. “… They didn’t end up catching the guy yet.”
A number of law enforcement personnel from Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Falls Police Department and Idaho State Police assisted in the search.
“They were setting up a perimeter,” Lovell reported. “It’s a fairly large area with a canal and neighborhood, so you just had a lot of people looking in the area.”
No arrest was made.
“The officers checked the surrounding area looking for him, and he has not been apprehended,” Lovell said.
At this time, the sheriff’s office is not releasing the name of the individual with a warrant for his arrest, nor the nature of the crime he had committed.
The incident remains under investigation, and officials are continuing to seek out and respond to any tips.
However, Lovell assured that, “I don’t think that we have any current threat or danger to the public.”
The SWAT team was not involved in the response.
