A local Secret Santa is giving $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season and the East Idaho News elves are helping out.

Every day from now until the end of the year, we’ll be posting a Secret Santa surprise, and today we are surprising a woman named Janaye.

Janaye and her husband Dale have been married for nearly 70 years. They have never been the type to ask, “Why me?” but have faith in God, knowing He will provide.

They have never been wealthy and they know how to manage what they do have. On their 66th anniversary, their basement flooded with 2 to 3 inches of standing water. Insurance did not cover the repairs.

They had to spend thousands of dollars to clean up the damages and all the carpet and padding were a loss. Sheetrock also had to be ripped off and replaced.

Janaye and Dale had to spend the money they set aside for carpet on a new furnace as their old furnace needed to be replaced.

Janaye loves having the space in her basement but now it is unusable. She crafted, led Bible studies and entertained in her basement. Now the floor is cold concrete.

Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to surprise this wonderful couple with a gift this holiday season. Check out the video in the player above!
