A Secret Santa has a gift for woman whose husband died in crash this month
Published atA local Secret Santa is giving $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season and the East Idaho News elves are helping out.
Every day from now until the end of the year, we’ll be posting a Secret Santa surprise, and today we are surprising a woman who recently lost her husband.
Michele and Matt were in a car crash on Dec. 14. Matt was killed and Michele was injured.
The Ishinos are long-time residents of Shelley and have been very involved in the community through scouting and church service. Michele is a retired school teacher and Matt was still working daily at his job for 27 years. They have raised three kids and love being grandparents.
When COVID closed down schools in 2020, there was a need to serve school lunches to kids in the community. When Matt and Michele heard about the need, they gave money they had been saving for a vacation to Hawaii to help the children. Their trip was canceled because of the pandemic and they felt like this cause was a good alternative.
Matt’s funeral was earlier this week and afterward, Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to stop by with a gift for Michele. Watch the surprise in the video player above.
