The following is a news release from the U.S. Dept. of Justice for the District of Idaho.

BOISE – The U.S. Marshals Service in Boise located and arrested Brandon Poisel on an active arrest warrant issued in U.S. District Court Thursday for violation of terms and conditions of his supervised release.

Poisel was previously convicted in 2017 for possession of sexually explicit images of minors and the
transfer of obscene materials to a minor, both of which are felony violations.

A federal judge in Pocatello sentenced Poisel to eight years in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. Poisel was released from the Federal Bureau of Prisons to the Boise area in July.

On December 27, Poisel was spotted by members of the Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force walking in the 2300 block of West Overland Road in Boise. An arrest operation was executed and Poisel was taken into custody without incident.

The U.S. Marshals Great Idaho Fugitive Task Force is a state-wide cooperative tasked with locating and arresting violent state and federal fugitives. Member agencies who work with the U.S. Marshal Service
throughout Idaho are the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Caldwell Police Department, Coeur d’Alene Police Department, Idaho State Police, Idaho Department of Corrections, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Nampa Police Department, and the Pocatello Police Department.
