‘It’s a one-stop shop for your healthcare needs.’ Free Winter Wellness Workshop coming to Pocatello
Published atPOCATELLO — Community members are invited to attend a free interactive wellness workshop happening later this month.
Superior Physical Therapy, which has seven clinics scattered throughout southeast Idaho, is hosting its first-ever Winter Wellness Workshop. The workshop will focus on health, balance and self-care. It will take place at 5 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Shoshone-Bannock Hotel and Event Center, located at 777 Bannock Avenue in Pocatello.
“It’s a one-stop shop for your healthcare needs,” Hayley Petersen, the patient care coordinator over the Pocatello and American Falls clinics, told EastIdahoNews.com. “We understand that PT is not the only specialty a lot of people need, but primary care is also not the only specialty. It’s hard when you have to go to so many places. This will be your one place to get all of them in one and also find out what do you actually need.”
The workshop will feature wellness tips and tricks, such as proven methods for maintaining one’s health during the winter. There will be free consultations and special guests to share their insights on wellness.
“We will be offering musculoskeletal ultrasounds (and) nerve conduction studies,” Petersen added.
Petersen said in the past, they have done other workshops at each of their clinics but at those workshops, they typically only address one body part or a specific condition.
“It addresses one certain population,” Petersen stated.
Superior Physical Therapy wanted to help even more people and better involve the community, so they came up with the idea to host the wellness workshop and showcase their specialities, as well as invite local providers to join in.
“Portneuf Surgical Specialists will be coming along with Ortho Idaho, so a couple of the general surgeons, potentially dentists and we’ll have a couple durable medical equipment people,” Petersen said. “If it’s something we can’t fix, we can direct you in the right way of getting some help.”
Petersen encourages people to come get checked out, get their questions answered and get the help they need.
“We’d love everybody to come,” Petersen said. “We’re super excited to have it.”
Registration is encouraged but not required. To register, click here. Petersen invites those who know they want something like an ultrasound or consultation to register ahead of time to help speed up their check-in process once they arrive.
