Man dies following northern Idaho crash

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.

The Idaho State Police is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Wednesday at 9:39 a.m. on US12 milepost 39 near Orofino.

A 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup truck was traveling westbound on US12 near milepost 39 when it drifted across the eastbound lane of travel and drove into a ditch, resulting in a rollover crash.

The vehicle was occupied by a 67-year-old male and a 67-year-old female, both from Orofino. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The occupants sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance. The male occupant was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The highway was partially blocked for approximately 30 minutes while first responders investigated the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, Clearwater County Ambulance Service, and Idaho Transportation Department assisted with the incident. This crash remains under investigation.
