IDAHO FALLS – Chad Hildebrandt and Jen Dixon have been a “powerhouse team” over the last four years, and running a business together just makes sense.

That’s how Hildebrandt feels about his business partner. The pair are the owners of HD Logistics & Warehousing Solutions, a 72,000-square-foot commercial building that opened in October inside the old Melaleuca warehouse storage space at 2020 Heyrend Way in Idaho Falls.

It offers 3PL (third-party logistics) services for clients, which include inventory management, warehousing, order processing, shipping and receiving, fulfillment, distribution, supply chain strategy, and access to technology.

The business has a wide variety of commercial customers. One of its largest clients is American Fabrication, a metal fabrication shop across the street.

The company is in the process of establishing contracts with multiple government agencies, such as Idaho National Lab, to provide short and long term storage of inventory.

Many of the items stored at HD Logistics have federal regulations attached to them. Hildebrandt and his team provide inspections to ensure those standards are met.

“The government will often purchase something several years in advance of a project, and it has to sit somewhere until they’re ready to take it,” Hildebrandt tells EastIdahoNews.com. “The manufacturers don’t want it to sit on their production line, taking up valuable space, so we step in and provide warehouse space.”

About 15,000 square feet of the business is climate controlled. It’s reserved for items that are sensitive to temperature or humidity.

In addition to floor space, there is lots of rack space to move and distribute inventory daily.

These amenities made it an ideal location for their business, Hildebrandt says. Take a tour in the video above.

“The only thing we don’t work in is hazardous material or vehicle storage,” Hildebrandt says. “We are an FDA-approved food grade warehouse for animal and human products, so we can’t have hazardous material in the building.”

Hildebrandt and Dixon have worked together for years and they wanted to fill a gap in the marketplace for this type of service.

“We knew there was a shortfall in commercial storage,” says Hildebrandt. “After talking with business leaders in the community, we learned 3PL was a big thing (that was in demand).”

It’s something he and Dixon are passionate about and Hildebrandt says their individual skillsets complement each other. He speaks highly of his colleague’s knowledge and abilities.

“Jen is absolutely one of the most underutilized people I’ve ever met,” Hildebrandt says. “She’s extremely knowledgeable about our industry and very humble about it. People bypass her because she’s a woman. I’m lucky to have her as a partner.”

While they want to make a decent living, Hildebrandt says their ultimate goal is to provide “exceptional service” for customers.

“We want to create longterm partnerships with local companies,” he says. “We want to grow with our community.”

HD Logistics & Warehousing Solutions is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To learn more, call (208) 915-0149.
