The following is a news release from the city of Pocatello.

POCATELLO — You can add a cat or dog to your family for half-price Dec. 11 through 14, thanks to Friends of the Pocatello Animal Shelter.

Recently, the group chose to cover 50% of the adoption cost from the shelter. Residents can adopt a cat for $17.50 plus tax, or a kitten (six months old and younger) for $25 plus tax. A dog is $65.00 plus tax and all adoptions include vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery, a microchip for permanent identification, pet license, and a collar (total value of $300).

“Thank you to The Friends of the Pocatello Animal Shelter for their generosity,” said Chris Abbott, Animal Services Director. “Cats and dogs make delightful companions for anyone looking to adopt a pet. Their diverse personalities range from energetic and playful to calm and laid-back, making it easy to find a furry friend that suits your lifestyle. Whether you prefer a cat that loves to play with toys and explore, a dog that enjoys outdoor adventures, or one that loves lounging and cuddling, there’s a perfect match for you.”

Animal shelters are full of cats and dogs, each one hoping to find a loving forever home. By adopting from a shelter, you’re not only giving an animal a second chance but also gaining a loyal and loving companion. Consider visiting your local shelter to meet some of these wonderful animals and find the perfect addition to your family.
