Preschool to host a family Christmas night to raise funds for special needs playground
Published at | Updated atREXBURG — The Madison Early Childhood Education Center is hosting a family Christmas night for the community.
The event will have different children’s activities in several spaces throughout the preschool building. Kids can take a picture with Santa, work on Christmas crafts, hear Christmas stories and enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides.
The preschool will also host a stocking raffle for items that several companies have donated. Visitors are asked to donate $10 to attend and everyone who donates $10 will receive three raffle tickets. The donations will go towards a special needs playground for the school.
“In each classroom, 50% of the kiddos have special needs,” said Madison Early Childhood Education Center Principal April Jones. “We want to build an all-inclusive playground. We have got kiddos in wheelchairs and kiddos with autism. We’ve got such a huge range of students here and we would love it for everyone to be able to access the playground.”
The Madison Early Childhood Education Center opened in August after being part of the Burton Elementary School. When Hibbard Elementary moved to a new building, the Madison Early Childhood Education Center moved into the previous Hibbard building to become its own entity.
“It’s awesome to have our own space,” Jones said. “It’s been amazing to be able to provide some of the resources our students need.”
The Family Christmas Night will be Thursday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at 2413 North 3000 West, Rexburg.
“We appreciate any support we can get and we are super excited to continue to help our program grow and be amazing,” Jones said.
