Snow is expected this weekend in eastern Idaho. Find out where.
Published at | Updated atISLAND PARK — Snow and high winds are expected this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Pocatello.
On social media, NWS posted though light snow is possible on Friday in eastern Idaho in places like Island Park, a “bigger system will be arriving Saturday night on our western borders and move east through early Sunday evening.”
A winter storm watch has been issued for the mountain areas for moderate to heavy snow. It is in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon in places like Ashton, Driggs, Kilgore, Victor, Swan Valley, Island Park, Wayan and Tetonia.
“Total snow accumulations between 5 and 12 inches possible for valley floors, and 10 to 20 inches above passes,” the watch said.
Winds are expected to be as high as 35 mph.
There’s also a winter storm watch in Stanley, Mackay, Mud Lake, Spencer, Craters of the Moon and Arco.
