A local Secret Santa is giving $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season and the East Idaho News elves are helping out.

Every day from now until the end of the year, we’ll be posting a Secret Santa surprise, and today we are surprising an incredible second-grade teacher named Carla.

She is a hard-working mother of two, and last fall, Carla’s husband, John, was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage three pancreatic cancer. Carla took a leave of absence from her teaching position to care for John in his final stages.

While taking care of her husband, Carla also took two bonus children into her home. After a valiant battle, John passed away in March leaving Carla as the sole provider for her family.

Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves if we could surprise Carla with an early Christmas gift. Check out the video – and her adorable students – in the video player above.
