SALT LAKE CITY (KSL.com) — A woman was arrested Friday and accused of damaging a tapa cloth in the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City.

Security footage shows a woman walking into an exhibit at the Church History Museum, located at 45 N. West Temple, about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday. The woman poured “an ink-like liquid” onto a tapa cloth, a police booking affidavit states.

Museum staff estimates the cloth to be valued at $10,000 and that it will cost an additional “tens of thousands of dollars in staff time to remediate the damage,” police said.

Danielle Manu Kanuch, 27, was located Friday near 131 E. 700 South after being identified from camera footage, police said. She was wearing the same shirt and jacket as the person in the video who committed the vandalism, police said.

Kanuch was arrested for investigation of criminal mischief causing a loss greater than $5,000.
