A HAPPY REUNION — A United Airlines pilot recently reunited with the woman who saved his life, and the touching moment was caught on camera.

A decade ago, Allie Reimold was a college student who registered to donate her bone marrow. A few years later, she found she was a perfect match for pilot David Whitson who was battling leukemia.

As a thank you to Reimold for donating her bone marrow to him, Whitson made her his travel pass buddy, so she could get discounted plane tickets. Whitson gets notified when she flies, and he told Inside Edition he noticed she’d be in Houston, Texas, at the same time he was scheduled to work.

Whitson said he texted the captain who was going to be flying the plane and got his permission, as well as the gate agents, to go on the plane. He then announced on the PA system that Reimold was on board and explained that she had donated her bone marrow to him.

A video shared online in December 2024 of the heartwarming reunion shows Whitson walk down the aisle of the plane on his way to embrace Reimold with a hug.

“I’m doing fantastic,” he says to Reimold.

He then turns to the passengers on board and says, “This is the young lady that saved my life.”

The passengers began clapping as Whitson goes on to explain that she was more of a match for him than his own brother.

“My body makes her blood. I went from B positive to O negative,” he explained. “She’s a true hero.”
