Charges pending against 22-year-old man after shooting in Chubbuck

CHUBBUCK — Charges are pending against a Chubbuck man after a shooting Thursday afternoon at a home near Cotant Park in Chubbuck.
Around 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, five Chubbuck police officers and two Bannock County sheriff’s deputies responded to a disturbance call at 4463 Fox Court. A 22-year-old Chubbuck man had barricaded himself inside the home, leading to a standoff that ended in a shooting around 1:10 p.m. No officers were injured, and no one else was hurt during the incident.

Officers provided first aid before EMS arrived to transfer the wounded man to the Portneuf Medical Center. His injuries were not life-threatening.
The Fox Court cul-de-sac was reopened around 7 p.m.
The Eastern Idaho Critical Incident Task Force, led by the Blackfoot Police Department and Bingham County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating the incident. The task force investigates police use of force and other critical incidents. Further information will be released from the task force when the investigation allows.
The man’s name will not be released until charges are filed. He is expected to face charges of aggravated assault and unlawful use of a destructive device, with additional charges possible.
Responders from the Pocatello Police Department, EICITF, Idaho State Police, and Chubbuck Fire Department assisted during the incident.
