REXBURG – A local chocolate shop is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a scavenger hunt for customers.

Chocolate Plunge, a dessert shop at 155 West Main Street in Rexburg that offers sweet treats dipped in chocolate, will post clues on its Facebook and Instagram page this Saturday. The clues will lead participants to prizes, which they can redeem at the store.

Owner Ty Walker tells EastIdahoNews.com the first clue will be posted at 10 a.m.

“We’ll have different things hidden throughout the community of Rexburg,” Walker says. “One clue will lead to the next. Once the final clue is discovered, there will be (a coupon) there they can bring in to the shop and redeem for free prizes.”

The prizes vary and include everything from T-shirts and gift certificates to free food and treats.

The scavenger hunt will last until all the prizes are found. Everything in-store will be 50% off that day.

Walker is grateful for the community’s support over the last year and is looking forward to celebrating with customers.

“Thank you to the community for having fun with us and welcoming us so well,” says Walker.

Walker opened the shop in January 2024 with his aunt, Donna Waite, and Kevin Heebner. It was inspired by the banana stands and similar businesses at Balboa Island in California, where Waite is from.

One of the shop’s main attractions is its chocolate fountain from Italy.

“We have fresh cups of strawberries and we drizzle milk chocolate over the top of those. People can add different toppings to them if they want,” he says. “We also have frozen desserts — cheesecake, bananas, ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches — that we dip in our chocolate.”

He’s enjoyed bringing something unique to Rexburg and customers seem to have enjoyed it as well. Walker says they’ve received so much positive feedback from patrons.

“We’ve heard such great feedback on how great our chocolate is and how it’s so much different from anything they’ve tasted,” Walker says.

He’s glad to provide a place where people can gather with their families and make memories.

After one-year of operation in Rexburg, Walker is looking to expand. He says they’ve got their eye on some property in Idaho Falls.

Details will be forthcoming once those plans are finalized.

“We’re looking forward to our future plans and expanding, bringing this treat to other communities,” he says.

For now, he’s happy to be doing business in eastern Idaho and looks forward to continue serving customers.

Chocolate Plunge is open 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday. It’s open until 11 p.m. on Friday. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
