UPDATE: Coroner identifies two people killed in Madison County crash

Madison County Coroner Sam Butikofer has released the names of the two people who died in the crash.
He identified the driver as Richard E. Griswold, 77, and the passenger as Jana Lee Griswold, 68. They were from Newdale.
Butikofer said they were both wearing seatbelts.
“My sincere condolences goes out to the family,” he said.

TETON — Two people have died following a crash in Madison County Wednesday night.
The incident happened just before 5:40 p.m. in the area of 8000 East and Idaho Highway 33, which is just east of Teton. Madison County Dispatch received 911 calls regarding a two-vehicle accident with injuries, according to a news release from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded and found a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2011 Toyota Tundra. Both had extensive damage, the release said.
The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to Madison Health for his injuries. It’s unclear what condition he is in.
The driver and the passenger of the Toyota died on the scene. Their names have not yet been released. Next of kin have been notified, according to the sheriff’s office.
A two-mile portion of the road was briefly closed Wednesday evening, and deputies had to reroute traffic.
The crash remains under investigation. The sheriff’s office was assisted by Idaho State Police, Madison County Fire & EMS, and the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.
