Every week I’m interviewing exciting people from Idaho and around the world!

Dr. Bryan McLean and his collaborators from UNC Greensboro recently identified a previously unknown species of ground squirrel – and it was found right here in Idaho!

It’s called the Snake River Plains ground squirrel and when I heard about the discovery, I was interested in chatting with Dr. McLean! Here’s what I asked him:

  • How did you discover the new squirrel?
  • How did you come up with the name and did you get to choose it?
  • What’s the difference between this and other squirrels?
  • How long did it take you to discover the squirrel?
  • Why is the discovery such a big deal?
  • Have you discovered any other animals or species?
  • What do you want people to know about your discovery?

Watch my entire interview with Dr. McLean in the video player above.
