In 1982, a group of investors bought six of the stores in San Francisco and turned it into a discount chain. It rapidly expanded to 107 locations.
Today, Barbara Rentler is the company’s CEO. It’s the largest off-price retailer in the U.S., according to its website, with 1,795 locations in 43 states.
“Our focus (is) bringing our customers a constant stream of high-quality department and specialty store brands at extraordinary savings, while providing an easy, fun and organized shopping experience,” the website says.
There are nine Ross stores in Idaho, including three in Boise, one in Meridian, Twin Falls and Burley, and one in Coeur d’Alene, Pocatello and Idaho Falls. The Rexburg store will be the franchise’s 10th Idaho location.
