ISLAND PARK — At approximately 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, Fremont County Search and Rescue (FCSAR) was dispatched to assist a group of 14 snowmobilers who found themselves stuck in a drainage near Yale Creek in Island Park.
As the FCSAR team made their way to their coordinates, the group of snowmobilers was able to get their machines moving again on their own. However, FCSAR continued their efforts and followed the snowmobile tracks, catching up with the group around 8:30 p.m.
The team escorted them safely back to the parking lot, ensuring they returned without further issues.
The group expressed their relief and appreciation, noting that although they were able to navigate out on their own, they were glad they made the decision to call for help.
FCSAR reminds the public to be cautious when venturing into remote areas during the winter months and to carry proper gear, communication devices and knowledge of the terrain.
