STATE ROUNDUP: Area girls teams battle for trophies on Championship Saturday

Day 3 of the girls state championships featured several area teams in action.
Here’s the roundup from the trophy games.

Borah 56, Rigby 50
A fourth-quarter rally by the Trojans came up short in the consolation final.
The Lions led 50-36 in the fourth as Rigby (17-9) tried to make a charge after scoring just 16 points in the first half.
Borah hit 10 of 17 3-pointers to maintain its early lead and hold on in the fourth.
Bailey Barber topped Rigby with 21 points and Kinzley Larsen finished with 14 points.
Madison 49, Coeur d’Alene 47
The Bobcats, who were seeded sixth, won the 6A third-place trophy.
The Vikings led by 11 points early, but Madison (18-9) held them to six points in the third quarter to take the lead.
Mia Walsh scored 19 points and led Madison with seven rebounds. Nora Waddoups scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Jerome 41, Skyline 33
Skyline ended its season with a loss in the consolation final.
The Grizzlies shot just 17.5% for the game and totaled 12 points in the second half as the Tigers overcame a six-point halftime deficit.
Shay Shippen finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds for Skyline (17-10).
Mountain Home 40, Blackfoot 36
Mountain Home shot just 20% but outscored the Broncos 15-5 in the fourth to win the third-place game.
Lauren Christiansen and Jaci Capson each tallied 10 points for Blackfoot (19-7).

Timberlake 39, South Fremont 33
The consolation final was tied at 25-25 after three quarters in a game that featured 10 lead changes and five ties.
Brianne Bailey finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars (22-7).

New Plymouth 74, North Fremont 70
The Pilgrims held off the Huskies in a high-scoring consolation final.
Peyton Lenz scored 24 points and Taylor Sessions added 21 points for North Fremont (14-15).
2A
Butte County 73, Lakeside 35
The Pirates won the consolation trophy as three players scored in double figures, led by Cambree Lyon with 17 points. Paige Williams scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Brynn Andersen added 13 points. Abbie Knight recorded 14 rebounds.
Butte County grabbed 27 offensive boards and totaled 22 second-chance points.
The Pirates (19-8) led the entire game.

Challis 43, Dietrich 33
The Vikings, making their first state tournament appearance in eight years, jumped out to an early and held on to win the consolation trophy.
Jalie Oerke scored 14 points and Taylor Redick and Callyn Zollinger added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Vikings (18-7) led early and upped their advantage to 14 points.
It’s the first state trophy for Challis since 2011.
