IDAHO FALLS — Shoppers at the Grand Teton Mall will soon have a new attraction to look forward to — markets showcasing vendors from Idaho, Utah and beyond. Thanks to a newly clinched contract with Events by Sydney, a Utah-based event management company, the mall will become a hub for handmade goods, artisan products, services, and unique finds.

Events by Sydney specializes in creating high-traffic, vendor-friendly events. These events allow artisans, crafters and small-business owners to showcase and sell their work in a lively, well-organized setting.

Sydney Weeks, who founded the company with her partner Jim Carroll, said the business stems from her other company, Sydney-Jewelry. Weeks has experience selling jewelry at events in various locations around the country.

Additionally, Weeks has over 11 years of successful corporate sales experience as a corporate sales manager/trainer and is happy to share that experience by helping vendors learn to interact effectively with consumers to increase sales.

“We started Events by Sydney because we saw the need for more quality events. We have a good understanding of vendors who design and create their merchandise and may sell products as representatives of other companies,” said Weeks. “I wanted to create the type of event I’d like to participate in.”

While pitching a show at Fashion Place Mall in the Salt Lake City area, the managers of Brookfield Properties, who own that mall and Grand Teton Mall, suggested they meet with the mall managers in Idaho Falls.

“So, a few weeks ago, Jim and I went on a trip to Idaho Falls to research and see the Grand Teton Mall as a potential new venue,” Weeks said. “We were pleasantly surprised to find the mall busy with steady foot traffic.”

Grand Teton Mall is the primary shopping center in the region, serving over 250,000 people within a 50-mile radius. Events by Sydney saw an opportunity to bring high-quality vendor markets to the area and moved forward with their plans.

“We saw the need for more quality events,” Weeks said. “We understand vendors who design and create their merchandise, as well as those who sell products from larger brands. The key is finding events with high foot traffic, an inviting atmosphere, and customers ready to shop.”

With three events already scheduled, the company will hold the Spring Market on April 5 and 6, followed by the Time to Bloom market on May 31 and June 1, and the Endless Summer market on July 19 and 20.

Grand Teton Mall managing have confirmed the events, saying, they’re “looking forward to the shows and expect that they’ll be a great draw.”

Weeks said Events by Sydney is actively seeking vendors from Utah and Idaho to participate in its Grand Teton Mall fairs. The company invites artisans, craft makers and small businesses to apply via its website.

While some vendor events enforce strict exclusivity rules, Events by Sydney takes a different approach.

“We do not limit vendors to one per product type because we believe every seller has a unique way of presenting and selling their items,” said Weeks.

As an event management company, Events by Sydney oversees all aspects of their events, from planning and budgeting to vendor coordination and guest experience. The goal is to create seamless, well-executed events that benefit vendors and shoppers alike.

“We want our vendors to feel like part of the Events by Sydney family,” said Weeks. “We provide guidance, share sales strategies, and help new and seasoned vendors learn the art of presenting their products.

“It is our job to oversee an event to ensure it runs smoothly. Our event managers assume many duties before and during the hosting of a show, including brainstorming ideas with vendors, keeping event expenses within a set budget, and addressing issues that arise while guests arrive,” Weeks added. “Events by Sydney wants to work with you to ensure smooth or seamless operations at all our events.”

Weeks hopes to eventually incorporate local entertainment into the shows and offer booths for high school-aged entrepreneurs.

With the first Grand Teton Mall market just around the corner, Weeks is excited about the new Idaho Falls venture. “We are so excited to build a community market that helps not only the vendors but the tenants of the mall and the community. We believe this will become a premier event location for our vendors. We can’t wait to bring these events to Idaho Falls!”
